Ava Greer is a queer multimedia artist specializing in costume design. As a designer, she interprets the art of theatre as akin to creating a tapestry, where each thread from all artists involved comes together to create a story. Storytelling is the most integral part of design; without it, a designer lacks purpose.
She recently graduated from the University of Mississippi in Spring 2024, receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Costume Design (Summa Cum Laude). In addition to her design work, Ava also enjoys painting/dyeing, costume craft work, and stitching.
Recent design credits include Head Over Heels (2024), The Prom (2023), Polaroid Stories (2023), Into the Woods (2022), Romeo and Juliet (2022), The Ashen Crown(2021), and Urinetown (2021). She has also designed a theoretical production of the opera Turn of the Screw and is currently designing a theoretical Parsifal.
Two of those productions have also won 1st place in the Southeastern Theatre Conference's Design Competition for Undergraduate Costume Design: Head Over Heels (2024), and Polaroid Stories (2023).
Ava's professional credits include Des Moines Metro Opera as a Costume Intern in 2022 and Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival as a Costume Craftsperson/Dresser in 2023. She is currently working as a Crafts/Wardrobe Apprentice for the Santa Fe Opera for summer 2024.
